Thats two days in a row we have been let down by the weathermen - what a waste of space they are:( Yesterday with our son Rob up for the weekend and Sunday promised an Easterly 15 kts great to get on the water for the first time in ages, in the end we had a great day but no wind! Then today promised again an early morning Easterly 15 kts + gusting to 30 kts with low water early I decided to try for my first sunrise sail. With sunrise at 5.09 I was at The Dip at 4:45 and it looked promising with wind gusting to 14 mph I decided not to rig the 9.4 and went for the 8.5. With tripod set I got a few pics of the sunrise before taking the longboard to the water. By the time I got my wetsuit on I was trying to launch at about 6 but the wind had completely gone:( and couldn't get off the beach!!! I gave up in the end and got dressed again and read and dozed in the van. I was woken by Carl Bushfire a local kitesurfer who I helped when he got into trouble while learning a few couple of years ago! We had a nice chat before I set off up the coast taking pics of the beachhuts and beautiful blue sky. I walked out on the narrow shingle spit and even collected a little coal by the rocks at the end of the beach by the River Deben. Then on the way back the breeze seemed to be filling in so on returning to the van I put my wetsuit on again and swopped my longboard for my 310 - a big mistake:( I wobbled out gybed and managed to lose half a mile down wind in the really light wind and strong tides!!! I sat in the sunshine waiting for a miracle but the wind failed to come and with the tide coming in fast I was running out of beach so I carried my board back, dressed and returned for my sail. It was then home at 2ish for a sandwich - I was starving as I had been up hours. Then filling refreshed I finished off trimming our bush at the bottom of our garden, a job started by Mag before having a nice hour reading in the sunshine before cutting the grass and repairing a broken battern. Despite the stunning weather of the last few days my patience with windsurfing is running rather thin at the moment after a couple of poor session and with the weather cracking up it's not looking great to get out on the water:(
